September 16th-19th, 20th-23rd, and 24th-27th 2009
The Photographic Society of America (PSA)
has asked me to do three four-day photographic tours into Yellowstone
National Park.
This will be one of PSA’s largest and most
impressive conferences (Sept 20-26) in many years. Guest speakers will
include; Art Wolfe, George Lepp, John and Barb Gerlach, Julieanne Kost, and
myself. PSA has re-worked their typical schedule to allow time to
photograph in the park.
While PSA has arranged for bus and shuttle transportation
into the park for a fee, anyone wishing to go on a real photo tour with a
total emphasis on photography, should go on a Light-Chasers tour with
Gary W. Stanley!

Started by my good friend David Middleton, the
Photographer’s Alliance Workshops (PAW) is a new photography workshop and
tour company dedicated to exemplary teaching and superb photography. It is a
community of professional photographers (of which I am proud to be one!)
brought together to teach and to share their passion for photography.
Simply, we are photographers from all over the country who love to help
other photographers be their best. No nonsense, no excuses, no inflated
egos, no huge overhead; just folks taking pictures, teaching photography and
loving what they are doing. PAW is how photography ought to be taught.
Be sure to check it out as well as my New Hampshire
and Coastal Maine workshops coming this fall!

A series of new teaching CDs, DVDs
and eBooks are available now from our new website

Be sure and check it out!
The Coastal Maine Travel Guide is here! (PC only right now!)
This is a great CD of my favorite places to photograph on the coast of
Maine.
This 35 minute CD is filled with over 200 images, illustrations, maps and
shooting tips, narrated by me, and accompanied with beautiful background
music by my friend and accomplished pianist Lori Tremblay. This is a
must have gift for anyone who is planning a trip here. With close to
3,500 miles of beautiful coastline (more than the state of California), and
3,000 offshore Islands, it may take you a while!
I will be producing the Acadia CD very
soon! It's loaded with more great shooting locations and was just too
big for my Coastal Maine CD!
The CD is available on the
USPhotoGroup website through PayPal, for $19.95 plus shipping.
It is an easy editing guide that
takes you through the same steps that I take when editing an image.
I'll show you how to do this whether you are using Photoshop Elements 5.0,
CS2, CS3or Adobe Lightroom. It is based on my strong opinion
that you need to get it rightin the camera first. If you do,
you will spend far less time in front of the computer and more time out
shooting!
This 44
page soft cover book gets right to the point, sharing with you my years of
editing experience, and does so without getting complicated. One theme
that seems consistent throughout my seminars is folks want things simple.
They don't want to be "Photoshop Wizards," they just want to take
beautiful photographs and keep the editing down to a minimum.
Here
is what folks are saying about the book:
“Thank you ...
Thank you ... Thank you ...
Having previously just glanced through your book , I thought what the
hell, lets try a bit of "Garyism" and see what happens ...... Well like
I said, thank you …I actually delved into areas that were always
mysteriously verboten and knew there must be an answer to my dilemma ...
No matter what I tried, I was never happy, either from camera output and
or attempts to rectify initial images, they were always "flat" .... I'm
not a lover of adjustments after the fact, but maybe I'm turning a
corner ... Again Gary, many, many thanks! Anyone who questions the
price of your book, charge him twice the going rate and he will still
have one "helluva bargain." "An evening of re-work that has
very dramatically brought some large prints to "life"....The only time I
have backtracked on a batch of pictures, not begrudging a minute of it,
the results are that dramatic .... Not artificial but factual!"
Bill L.,
Ottawa, Canada
"Gary, great
little book. It sounds just like you on stage!
Not too complex and right to the point. Many thanks for the book
it contains the best explanations yet."
Dave P., Ohio
"I call it my editing bible!"
Audrey W., Connecticut
The
eBook is here too! Image Preparation: The Key
to Success!
This new PDF downloadable eBook
is based on my popular seminar and soft cover book of the same name.
The PDF
downloadable eBookis available on the
USPhotoGroup website through PayPal, for $16.95.

New for the 2009:
I will be scheduling more One-Day Seminars and we are
very excited to announce the new Light-Chasers Workshop. We have our
eye on three beautiful workshop locations here in New England where we will
hold our teaching and photographing sessions. We also plan to release
several new books and CDs in order to have them available at these teaching
programs.
For years, Light-Chasers has been about
the joy and excitement of photography, about the thrill of chasing the light
in an effort to capture an image that moves ones soul and captures ones
heart. It's been about sharing with you my excitement for nature and
the outdoors. I'm sure everyone has his or her own idea as to what
makes photography so special in there lives.
For over fifteen years, I've led photo
tours and lectured to photographic clubs and organizations in both the U.S.
and Canada. For the past four and a half years, I've been writing
regular monthly articles on photography, for both film and digital shooters.
As both a senior editor, a managing editor, a tour leader and seminar
instructor, it has become obvious to me that teaching has played an equally
important part in sharing my love for photography.
I've decided that one of the best ways to
share the knowledge and experience that I have gained over the past twenty-five years of photography, was to create my own website.
I like keeping things simple and easy for
any photographer to understand. whether a seasoned or beginning
photographer, I want you to be able to absorb the
informative articles, books and photographs so that you'll come away saying: "Wow, I finally get it, this
really makes sense."
I believe that there are more than
enough forums and blogs out there to last a life-time. So, while
you're more than welcome to comment on my articles or ask questions, this
won't be the place for those kinds of on-line discussions.
